I reimagined the digital experience of one of Naples’ most iconic gelaterias: Mennella.

- Before Mennella has a strong physical presence and loyal customers, but its digital touchpoints are still limited to traditional channels and don’t extend the experience beyond the store itself.

- After I designed Il Chiosco, a new travelling gelato concept and companion app that turns a moving gelato kiosk into a fully connected experience.

Customers can:

→ Discover where the kiosk is each day and explore upcoming stops across the city. → Browse the daily menu of rotating flavors, including classics and experimental limited editions. → Use Mastro, an AI gelato curator that recommends personalized flavor combinations based on mood and preferences. → Create and reserve their own gelato cup before arriving at the kiosk. → Collect loyalty rewards, unlock achievements and build their personal flavor profile.

For the business owner, I also designed a complete management dashboard to handle:

→ orders in real time → inventory and stock → daily locations and schedules → customer profiles and loyalty programs → sales analytics and communications.

Automation

The app includes multiple working automations that improve both customer experience and business operations:

→ AI-powered personalized recommendations with Mastro → Automatic reservation and order management → Notifications when the kiosk is near a customer’s favorite neighborhood → Alerts when favorite flavors become available again → Automated customer communications for upcoming stops and events.

The goal wasn’t simply to redesign a website, but to create a new service and business extension that could realistically become a new touchpoint for the Mennella brand.
