GrowZone — Native iOS Gardening Assistant
GrowZone is a native iOS gardening application designed to help users choose plants suited to their specific growing conditions and maintain a record of their garden over time.
I designed and developed the application in Swift and SwiftUI, combining location-aware environmental data with a curated plant database. GrowZone uses factors including USDA hardiness zone, sun exposure, soil type, and elevation to provide more relevant plant recommendations rather than presenting users with a generic plant catalog.
The app includes a searchable database of more than 500 plants, detailed growing requirements and care information, location-based weather and seasonal gardening guidance, and filtering tools for matching plants to individual garden conditions.
Users can also build a personal garden, save plants, record dated journal entries, attach photographs, and document growth and changes over time. Garden data can be synchronized through iCloud for continuity across Apple devices.
Key development work included location and environmental-data integration, multi-criteria recommendation and filtering logic, structured plant data, persistent user-created garden records, photo management, iCloud synchronization, and a responsive SwiftUI interface.
Technologies: Swift, SwiftUI, iOS, iCloud/CloudKit, Core Location, Weather Data, Local Data Persistence
Platform: iPhone and iPad

The three frames read as one system: zone picks, sun and soil filters, then growth over time. Soft plant cards and the photo backdrop make the recommendations feel practical instead of a generic catalog.
