The dashboard isn't the hard part. Knowing when it's lying to you is.
The 2026 Upwork workforce report had a stat worth sitting with: freelancers doing simple AI execution work saw earnings drop 28% last year, while freelancers doing AI-augmented, judgment-heavy work saw earnings jump 45% in the same window. Same tools. Opposite outcomes, depending on what people actually did with them.
That split isn't new in inventory, it's just now got a number attached to it.
Every DTC brand has a forecasting dashboard now. "12 days of cover" is a free output, anyone or anything can generate it. What's actually valuable is knowing when that number is quietly wrong: staggered purchase orders masking real demand, a promo inflating sell-through for two weeks before vanishing, one variant carrying half the demand behind a comfortable-looking average.
That's the work I do; not running the dashboard, but knowing when to override it, at the variant level, before a stockout or a dead-stock pile shows up as a surprise. If your inventory setup has the tooling but not the judgment layer on top of it, that's usually the actual gap, not the software.
Open to a conversation if that's a problem you're sitting with right now.
