Page builder or custom WordPress? Here's when each one makes sense. šŸ¤”
I've built WordPress sites for 5+ years, both ways. Neither is "always better." It depends on your business.
🟢 A page builder (Elementor, Divi, etc.) makes sense when: → You need to launch fast on a small budget → It's a simple site: a few pages, a contact form, no complex features → You want to drag and drop changes yourself → You're testing an idea before investing more
šŸ”µ Custom WordPress (custom theme or plugin) makes sense when: → Speed matters: ads, SEO, high traffic, or mobile-heavy visitors → You need custom features like booking flows, member areas, or API integrations → You run a WooCommerce store with custom checkout or product logic → You want a site that's secure, easy to maintain, and won't break with every plugin update → Your brand needs a unique, premium design, not a template look
āš ļø The common mistake: Starting with a page builder, then piling on plugins until the site becomes slow, messy, and expensive to fix. If you already know you'll grow, building it right from the start often costs less in the long run.
āœ… The middle ground: Modern WordPress block themes let me build a fast, custom site that you can still edit easily yourself, without heavy page builders.
Not sure which one fits your project? Send me a message with what you need, and I'll tell you honestly which option makes sense, even if it's the cheaper one.
