I created this launch video for Tony Bianco using both CGI and AI. This is how I did it. The background was generated with ChatGPT image gen 2, denoised with Gemini. Then, because AI video can reduce quality quite a bit and we wanted to have the people in the store moving, I animated the video with Seedance but mask cropped it so that the only visible part of the video is the store and the people inside moving. For the banner animation, this was done completely with CGI, as well as the taxi. The lighting was done well enough that everything in the scene feels real, but nothing was shot in real life!

This is honestly crazy. The fact that nothing was shot in real life makes it even more impressive. Great work!

thank you brother

That’s a crazy workflow. The way you mixed AI, CGI, and masking while keeping everything feeling real is really impressive.

gemini for the denoise, didn't think of that

certain image models are better at some things than others 🤷‍♂️

The mask crop trick to keep only the AI-animated storefront visible is clever, that's exactly the kind of workaround that makes AI video actually usable in production. How much manual cleanup did the mask edges need, or did it hold up cleanly?

The CGI banner and taxi are the part that gets me, that lighting genuinely reads as shot on location. Did Tony Bianco know upfront this would be a CGI/AI hybrid, or did you pitch it after testing that the AI plates wouldn't hold up on their own?

The hybrid workflow is really thoughtful. Using CGI to protect detail while AI handles the environment gives the launch film a much more polished result.

Looking cool man! Do you think mixing CGI with AI creates better results in general? Don't have real experience with CGI so curious to know

Yeah well at the end of the day, they're just tools - you can always enhance your workflow with ai theres no question about that

I love this.

Denoising the ChatGPT background with Gemini before compositing is the step most people skip, and it is usually where AI footage falls apart. Keeping the people in the store moving is what grounds the whole shot as real.
