Last year, I sat in sprint planning as the team loaded up two weeks with "must-have" features. Everyone was locked in. Then I asked: "Can I see the raw user feedback?"
Turns out, users weren't asking for features—they were describing workarounds for a broken flow. We had translated "I keep clicking this and nothing happens" into "users need a new export button."
We almost burned two weeks building something nobody asked for. Users would still be stuck, just with one more button to ignore.
The features users request are symptoms, not solutions. They'll tell you how they tried to fix things themselves. Your job is to spot the wound beneath the bandage.

Users won't notice your design system until buttons start behaving differently across pages. Then, they'll feel that something is off.
And that's where trust issues begin. Once trust is broken, recommending the product or service becomes unlikely.
This is probably where most products fail.
So I don't think there's anything wrong with prioritizing the design system.

A client wanted a facelift for their app, but I found users couldn’t pay or navigate. Redesigning the UI without fixing that wastes time and budget it’s a business problem, not just aesthetics

For me, design is more than pixels and colors. It’s about solving real problems, guiding users effortlessly, and creating experiences that feel so intuitive they disappear into the background.

Reducing churn isn’t just about retention emails it starts right from the login screen. One of the biggest drop-off points in most digital products is the onboarding experience when users are forced through unnecessary steps just to get started. In this redesign, I tackled that by making the flow intelligent:
If a returning user types their email, the system recognizes them instantly and skips the long login process — they just enter an OTP and continue.
If they’re new, they’re taken straight into a lightweight sign-up flow with only essential fields.

Simple doesn't mean easy to build. In fact, simplicity is often the hardest problem to solve. It demands deep empathy for the user and an understanding of information architecture that allows us to hide complexity behind a facade of elegance.
But it is this very struggle for simplicity that creates the lasting magic the seamless, elegant, and beloved experiences that users don't just tolerate, but genuinely love to use.
