Abode 3 of 4 KYC without the paperwork My client wanted tenant verification to feel simpler without losing the information landlords need. So I designed KYC around one idea: complete it once, reuse it when you need it.💯 Instead of making tenants submit documents to every landlord, I designed a single rental profile that brings together work and income, a guarantor, an emergency contact, and a previous landlord. I also made the KYC card quiet and easy to find on the profile instead of interrupting the experience with popups. The form adapts to the tenant too, showing relevant fields based on whether they’re employed or self-employed. The result: one profile, one KYC process, and less paperwork every time a tenant applies for a home.

When the client asked us to think beyond rent payments, I wanted to design an experience that makes life easier for tenants long after they move in. Here’s Abode Series 2/4: Life after move-in. I designed the tenant experience around the things that matter daily: rent, due dates, outstanding bills, and maintenance. MoMo payments update automatically, with receipts saved. Need a repair? Snap a photo, raise a ticket, and track it until it’s fixed. No screenshots for your landlord. No “did you get it?” messages. Are you building a product and need this kind of design thinking, I’m open to new projects.

Hello 👋 I’m new here! I’m Wisdom, a product designer who helps teams turn messy problems into calm, simple products. On Contra, I’ll be sharing my UX decisions, user flows, and the thinking behind the experiences I design. First up is Abode, a rental app. The client wanted people to pay rent monthly instead of a year upfront and to manage everything after move-in in one place. My job was to fit all of that into something that feels effortless, and it took a few rounds of ideation to strip it down to only what renters need at each step. Here's the renter flow, from search to first payment. In the next few posts I'll break down the key UX decisions behind this app, one at a time. If you're building something and need this kind of thinking on your product, I'm open to new projects.
