Not everything should be turned vertical.
I recently converted a horizontal SaaS video into a vertical format—and technically, it worked.
But something was missing.
The composition lost its balance. The UI felt cramped. The visual flow wasn’t as intentional. And most importantly, the video lost some of its ✨magic✨.
A good video isn’t just about fitting content into a frame.
It’s about designing the frame around the content.
Sometimes the better solution isn’t to crop, resize, or squeeze a horizontal video into 9:16.
It’s to rethink and redesign the composition specifically for vertical.
Format matters. Design matters. Story matters.

For this promo I focused on making the product feel clear and engaging through motion. No unnecessary complexity - just the product.

One of my earliest SaaS-style explainers.
At the time, I genuinely thought I had absolutely nailed it. 😂
Looking back at it now, I can see so many things I’d do differently — but that’s also what makes looking back at old work so valuable.
You don’t realize how much you’ve improved until you compare where you started with where you are now.
