Most of
Typography isn't just decoration. Most of the typography posts on this blog are about letterforms and visual works of art. But there's a quiet side to typography that matters just as much: hierarchy, spacing, and structure in everyday business writing. This is a real before/after from an editing job. Same content, same facts โ€” one version is a wall of text, the other has headers and short paragraphs. One gets read. The other gets skimmed and forgotten. If you're a typography designer, I'm curious: how do you think about readability vs. visual style when designing fonts or doing type work?

Behind every clean chart is a messy spreadsheet ๐Ÿงน This is what a real data cleaning job looks like before it becomes an elegant bar chart โ€” duplicate rows, missing values, inconsistent formatting, all sorted out with Python and Pandas. #collage attempt: a look inside the data analyst's actual desk, not just the pretty output.

Cover image for I stopped writing my first
I stopped writing my first draft of any data report myself. Here's why. Over the past few months, I've started using Claude as the first pass on every client communication โ€” not to do the analysis, but to structure the findings once I already have them. My workflow is now: Clean and analyze the data myself in Python/R (this part stays 100% me) Feed the key findings to Claude and ask him to draft a plain-language summary Rewrite and tighten it in my own voice, cut out anything generic The result: reports that used to take me an hour to write up now take 20 minutes, and they read clearer because I'm editing instead of staring at a blank page. The part AI can't do: determining what finding actually matters to the client's business. That's STILL 100% WITH ME. What's one part of your workflow you've handed off to AI, and one part you'd never trust it with?
