This scene captures the tense moment when Joe and his friend are caught by the boarding master after lights out. Joe attempts to explain the actions that led them to leave their rooms at such an ungodly hour, but his explanations spectacularly backfire.
True to my style, the story contains sufficient humour and natural pacing to immerse the reader.

I also write fiction. And the image attached is a screenshot from a first-person narrative story I had written some time ago. The setting is a Nigerian boarding school, and the narrator shares what happened when he decided to stay up late at night playing chess with his friend.
