I start by getting into the product myself, using it the way a real customer would, before comparing what I find against research and behavioural patterns from similar products. That's followed by a working session with you or your team to understand what's already been tried and what hasn't.

What you get: an annotated walkthrough of the key problem areas, a written audit covering usability, visual hierarchy, and information architecture, and a prioritised list of fixes ranked by impact and effort. Nothing vague, every recommendation is specific enough to hand straight to a developer or designer.
