Things I'll need from you before we start:

CAD/3D File(s): 3D model(s) of your product(s) in one of the formats listed below:

STEP (preferred), FBX, OBJ, IGES, or Parasolid. In most cases, I can work with any file you have, but if that is not the case, we can try to find a solution together.

Decal Artwork: If your product has any decals, please send them to me in either PDF, PNG, or Adobe Illustrator format (.ai).

Company Logo: Your company logo should be sent over to me in either PDF, PNG, or Adobe Illustrator format (.ai). 

Script: A script serves as the foundation for a 3D product animation, outlining the narrative, visuals, and overall flow of the animation. This will provide me with a clear roadmap and ensure that the animation effectively conveys the intended message and highlights the product's features and benefits.

The Process (Depends on Project)

Initial Steps: We discuss the project and your company over email or Contra Project (or video call via Google Meet) and agree on goals, deliverables, timelines, and pricing. This will help me figure out if we are a perfect match for collaboration!

CAD/3D Model Review: I will review the 3D model(s) you provided for any notable imperfections before putting them to use. Should I identify any, I'll notify you and request corrected versions that are free from errors.

CAD/3D Model Prep: Mechanical engineers may decide not to include a particular accessory that comes with a product (such as a lanyard, shoulder strap, carabiner, etc.) in the 3D file. If this applies to your product, I can build a 3D model of it if required.

Script Review: I will go over the script to make sure everything is in order. If I have any questions, I will reach out.

Research: I will conduct any research required for your project.

3D Props: If you need props, you or your company will need to purchase the necessary 3D models. If this is not possible, I will gladly purchase the model for you with a markup added. Alternatively, if the prop is simple enough, I can model it for you at my hourly rate.

Storyboard: I will make a rough storyboard for us to work from. This will aid in the planning and appearance of each animation sequence.

Storyboard Revisions: Based on your feedback, I will revise the storyboard. 

Scene Development & Animation: The magic happens right here! When the 3D model(s) are ready and the storyboard is approved, I open my 3D program and begin building the scene with various camera angles, lighting, materials, and textures. I will also create any part animations, light animations, material animations, and camera animations that are required.

Creating Rough Sequences: Once I think I've nailed down the aforementioned, I will render out test sequences in low-resolution for review and look them over with you.

Feedback: I'll use your comments to make any necessary changes and adjustments to the rough sequences and go over them again with you. Once approved, I'll prepare each sequence for final rendering. 

Rough Video Edit: Once the final sequences have been rendered, I will edit them together to create a rough cut of the product animation. During this step, I will also add any necessary audio, callouts, and the company logo. 

Feedback: I'll use your comments to make any necessary changes and adjustments to the rough cut and go over them again with you. 

Final Video Export: I will prepare the video for final export once the rough cut has been approved.

One Round of Revisions: I'm happy to offer you one round of complimentary revisions for minor tweaks. These could range from adjusting tones and colors in post-production to updating your company logo or any callout or text. No worries, I've got you covered! However, making changes to the 3D model, materials, lighting, environment, textures, and so on after the high-resolution sequences have been rendered out is considered a major change. Please keep in mind that this may cause the agreed-upon timeline to be extended, and I'll discuss any additional charges based on my hourly rate for implementing these significant changes.
