Due to the 2020 shutdowns, the Pelican marketing team was unable to begin product photography for the launch of their new 14QT personal cooler in 2021. To remedy this, they hired me to create a series of photorealistic studio and lifestyle renders that highlighted the 14QT cooler’s durability and multi-layered design while also ensuring that the lifestyle images appealed to the overlanding and wildland firefighting communities.

With this in mind, I researched the environments that these communities typically find themselves in and created a reference folder filled with overlanding and wildland firefighting images. As I began developing the 3D scene, I leveraged Megascans and Turbosquid assets to quickly iterate through different environments. This allowed me to focus more on developing the materials, textures, colorways, and lighting for the 14QT personal cooler.

In the end, the images that I developed were used throughout the marketing of the 14QT personal cooler during its initial launch. They also saved Pelican thousands of dollars, as a full-on shoot with photo gear, crew, vehicles, location fees, and permits was not required.
