About this service

Summary

I'll aim to get to know your business and your brand and the overall strategic idea the team is working from to create your brand identity. Defining a voice, with clear attributes and characteristics, is one of the most important ways to make the brand strategy meaningful. Of course I'll write sample copy so you can see how to activate the brand through your new voice.

Process

  1. Discovery – I'll review any existing materials that could help inform or serve as a starting point for the work.
  2. Workshop – I'll prepare and lead a workshop with you and your team to explore new dimensions of your brand through voice and different possibilities for a messaging style that feels right for your brand.
  3. Voice attributes – I'll propose a set of recommended voice attributes (typically 5 with a few alts) to discuss and finalize what fits best, now and for the long term.
  4. Voice guidelines – I'll write characteristics, helpful instructions to guide future work and sample copy. Also guidance on the tone. 1 round of feedback and revisions to the full set of guidelines.
  5. Finalization – You'll receive a simple pdf (or doc) of the voice guidelines. If this voice work is part of a larger brand identity project, I can work with the designer through that process, with written copy throughout the entire brand manual. (Scope and timing would of course extend of course, in that case.)
