Balance Sheet Review Reviewed the Balance Sheet after the cleanup to verify that account balances were reasonable and properly classified. This included checking cash and bank accounts, assets, liabilities, and owner equity; identifying balances that needed additional research; and confirming that cleanup adjustments were flowing to the appropriate accounts. The result was a clearer, more reliable snapshot of the business’s financial position and a stronger foundation for ongoing bookkeeping and year-end reporting.

QuickBooks Cleanup Highlights Completed a detailed review of the client’s QuickBooks Online file after historical transactions were cleaned up and categorized. The review included organizing the Chart of Accounts, matching bank activity to existing transactions, verifying Balance Sheet accounts, and reviewing the Profit & Loss for accurate income and expense reporting. This final review helped confirm that the books were organized, consistent, and ready to provide more reliable financial information for the business owner.

Categorized One Year of Bank Transactions Reviewed and categorized a full year of bank activity in QuickBooks Online, assigning transactions to the appropriate income, expense, asset, liability, or equity accounts. This included researching unclear transactions, identifying business versus owner activity, matching transactions when appropriate, and correcting classifications that did not accurately reflect the ranch’s operations. The goal was not simply to clear the bank feed—it was to create clean, consistent financial data that could be relied on for reconciliation, financial reporting, and year-end review.

QuickBooks Cleanup | CR Bar Livestock A good cleanup isn’t just about making the numbers look right—it’s about figuring out why they were wrong in the first place. I completed a comprehensive QuickBooks Online cleanup for CR Bar Livestock, a small agricultural business with livestock sales, breeding stock purchases, ranch expenses, owner transactions, and historical bookkeeping that needed to be reviewed and organized. The project included: • Reconciling cash and bank activity against supporting records • Reviewing and correcting historical transaction classifications • Cleaning up Undeposited Funds and resolving unmatched transactions • Reviewing sales receipts and deposits to ensure income was recorded correctly • Correcting owner transactions and equity classifications • Reviewing the Chart of Accounts for accuracy and organization • Reviewing the Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet for unusual or incorrect balances • Completing a Books Review of the cleanup period • Adding documentation and notes to create a clearer audit trail One of the biggest parts of cleanup work is tracing transactions back to what actually happened in the business rather than simply changing numbers until they match. By the end of this project, the books were cleaner, reconciled, easier to understand, and much more useful for making business decisions. This project is also a great example of why I enjoy working with agriculture and livestock businesses—I understand that the bookkeeping has to reflect how the operation actually works.
