Groundtruth is a self-initiated Kajabi website template for an outdoor-skills academy concept. I created it in Pro Studio to explore how a broad training offer can feel practical and navigable from the first page.
The central design idea is a field manual: direct language, indexed subjects and a clear relationship between the overview and the next course to explore. That idea shapes both the visual identity and the way the content is organized.
The brief
Outdoor skills cover a wide range of subjects. A website needs to show that breadth without presenting visitors with an unstructured catalog or asking them to choose a course before they understand the approach.
For Groundtruth, I organized the homepage around orientation first. The page introduces the field-skills concept, provides an index, explains the approach, sets out six core disciplines and describes the method. Each section answers a different question about the sample academy.
Audience and content priorities
The sample audience is people exploring practical outdoor learning. Some may arrive with a particular skill in mind; others may need help understanding where to begin.
The site structure accommodates both routes. Start Here provides an introductory destination, while Courses and Field Course give more focused offers a place of their own. Field Notes and Journal create space for supporting editorial material without overloading the primary course explanation.
Design direction
Barlow Condensed headings, IBM Plex Sans body text and a red accent give the template a purposeful, field-oriented character. The condensed headings establish strong section labels, while the body typography carries the more detailed explanations.
Numbered sections and the field index are central to the design. They make the content feel organized around subjects and actions, rather than a sequence of interchangeable promotional panels. The same practical character connects the visual choices to the training concept.
The page journey
1. Establish the subject
A field-oriented hero introduces the academy concept. It gives visitors a clear setting for the material that follows before they reach individual course information.
2. Give visitors an overview
The index makes the breadth of the subject visible early. It acts as an organizing device for a site that needs to explain several areas of learning within one shared identity.
3. Explain the approach and disciplines
The approach section develops the academy's point of view. The six-discipline overview then turns that broad positioning into a more concrete picture of the sample curriculum.
4. Connect the method to a next destination
The method section explains how the concept approaches learning. Dedicated introductory, course and editorial pages provide places to continue, keeping the homepage focused on orientation rather than trying to contain every detail.
Build and deliverable
The deliverable is a native Kajabi website template created in Pro Studio. Its public-facing structure includes Start Here, Courses, Field Course, Field Notes, Journal, About and Contact, alongside Kajabi's store, library, blog and account-related pages.
The project demonstrates information architecture for a skills-based offer: establish the subject, organize its breadth, explain the method and provide clear routes into more specific content.
Project status
Groundtruth is a self-initiated template brand, not a commissioned client project or a verified operating academy. Course details and illustrative material are sample content. This case study describes the design and website structure, not measured training outcomes or commercial performance.
