Chapter 1- Earth Evolution 1

DAY- 1

The atmosphere was cool and lively. The breeze was so fresh, fragrant, and smooth on one's skin, and everything seemed so peaceful on Earth.

In the sky, birds were seen flapping their wings happily and moving to their respective destination with ease, while humans were seen traversing along the roadside with happy and friendly looks on their faces.

However, the day happens to be the day when an unknown disaster will befall Earth, which will almost bring annihilation to the race of humans. Of course, it will happen in the form of a virus that will spread across the world.

Humans will undergo a tremendous mutation whereby those who are not affected by the virus will survive, and some will undergo an evolution that comes with super abilities. On the other hand, those who will be affected will turn into a man-eating monster known as Zombies.

And in order to avoid total annihilation of the human race, survivors must join hands together in order to fight for the dominance of Earth against the zombies and billions of ferocious monsters.

TIME - 12:00 PM

COUNTRY-AMERICA

CITY- NEW YORK

In a one-building apartment, a man who was around the age of 25 was seen fast asleep and snoring heavily because he had a sleepless night attending to his online clients. Immediately, the alarm rang.

Rang! Rang!! Rang!!!

Upon waking up, Alex was greeted with a scorching hot sun that reflected into his room up to his face through the transparent window glass.

"Ouch! The sun is so hot." Immediately, he covered the window with cotton, and having turned off the alarm, he checked the time.

"What the fu*k! This is past 12." Alex was shocked.

"Did I sleep that much? This is kind of odd. Jeez!!!!"

"Well, it can't be helped. I was so tired, and that might be the reason I slept so much. It's time to stop pondering over issues and start today's work, but first, I have to take my bath."

Upon getting up from the bed, his phone rang.

Rang! Rang!! Rang!!

"Who's the one calling me?" Immediately, he picked up his phone and checked the caller. 'Oh! It's my girlfriend, Angelina."

"Hello Angelina, how're you doing?" Alex asked.

"Stop that foolish question of yours. Had you picked up my call since I've called multiple times in the morning, then you would have known my state of being." Angelina said furiously.

Alex shrugged off his shoulder.

"I'm so sorry. I'm just waking up, so that's the reason for the unpicked calls." Alex said apologetically

"Did you expect me to believe that? This is part 12!!!" She exclaimed.

"You have to believe me, Angelina. I worked throughout the night, and I became too tired. So, that's what happened."

"I'm so worried sick about you. I thought something might have happened to you." Angelina softens her voice.

"Don't worry, I'm doing perfectly, okay? But is everything alright on your side?" Alex asked.

"Ab…o.Ut that…t, everything seems fine here."

"Why the long pause? Tell me what happened." Alex inquired.

"What happened is that, after I had my breakfast, I suddenly developed an upset stomach. I really don't know what caused it, but when I was brought to the hospital, the doctor confirmed that I had indigestion. However, I was given treatment, and I'm doing fine now." Angelina explained.

Alex signed in relief hearing that she was fine.

"By the way, have you been discharged?" Alex asked.

"Not at all. But I will be discharged in the evening today."

"I might as well pay you a visit." Alex suddenly said.

"Really?" Angelina asked, feeling excited.

Yeah.

"What is the name of the hospital?" Alex asked.

"UCH Hospital." Angelina said. From the way he was speaking, it seems she was really happy that Alex was coming.

Alright then. See you soon.

Shortly after they finished their discussion, Alex went to brush his teeth and take his shower, and having done that, he went straight to the hospital.

On his way to the hospital, the wind was buzzing, trees were flapping together, and if one looked into the sky, one could see dark clouds forming together.

"Ohh! It seems it's going to rain today. But this occurrence is very strange because it has not been up to a week that it rains non-stop for almost five days." Alex kept pondering over the issue, not knowing the day was going to be the last day the Earth would stop being what it used to be before.

It was exactly at 2:00 pm that Alex reached the hospital. Upon entering, Alex was immersed at the amazing sight of the hospital. The interior was well furnished to taste and well designed.

"Of course, no wonder it was called one of the best hospitals in the US." Alex mumbled with a stunned expression.

Shortly after that, he went over to meet the receptionist. A beautiful blonde lady who was the one in charge of attending visitors, upon noticing him, appeared in front of her asked with her eyes, which stared intently at him.

"Hello! What is your name, and how can I help you?" The receptionist said frankly.

"My name is Alex. I came here to see a person. The name was Rodriguez Angelina."

The lady was surprised. However, it wasn't until a minute later that her expression went back to normal. But Alex was able to notice this subtle change but didn't think too much about it.

"How are you related to her?" The lady suddenly asked.

"I'm her boyfriend." Alex said.

Oh! Alright then. Immediately, the lady looked into the file on her desk. She flipped the pages. Alex, who saw this, realized that she was looking for the name bearer. After some seconds, she looked at Alex and uttered some words. She is in ward 10.

"Just go straight to your right side, then you turn left, start going straight. After that, you'll see a staircase leading to the second floor. Once you reach there, turn to your right side, go deeper. Then, you see the Patient ward section with an indication of going left. Turn to your left and you'll see her ward. Hope you get it?"

"Yeah! I do." Alex said.

"I really appreciate it."

"You're welcome." The lady said, showing a smiling expression.

Shortly after saying that, he went off.

Just as the lady said, Alex followed the directions, and he got there pretty fast. However, just as he was able to knock the door to Angelina's room, the doorknob was suddenly twisted and abruptly opened from inside, and seeing those who opened the door, Alex was shocked. Of course, those people are no other than Angelina's parents.

CHAPTER 2

Seeing the person who arrived in front of them, Frank Angelina Father asked while looking at him with cold gazes.

"What are you doing here?" Frank shouted.

Noticing the deadly glare coming from Angelina's father, Alex couldn't hold his breath. It was as if a powerful aura was suppressing him down.

However, Angelina, who was inside, heard her father's furious voice.

"Who could he be talking to?" She wondered.

It was at that moment that she realized that Alex was still coming to pay her a visit.

"Don't tell me it was Alex."

A sudden hit of realization dawned on her. Immediately, she dashes off from the bed to take a peek. Looking closely, it was definitely Alex.

Looking at Alex, she realized that he was having a hard time.

By the way, why would Angelina's father hate Alex to the core? Definitely, it was because of his relationship towards his daughter.

Being a successful businessman and one of the richest in the whole USA, Frank engages in a huge capital project, which unfortunately fails, and the money goes into the drain. Of course, this has an adverse effect on Frank to the point that he almost went into bankruptcy. In order to alleviate himself again, he sought for the help of his friend John to loan him some millions of naira. However, Frank was given a condition. And that is, for him to support Frank, his son Dan must marry Frank's daughter. Frank was troubled, but he had no choice since his company was at risk of going bankrupt. But it was at this moment that Alex appeared in his Angelina life. Therefore, Alex was viewed with hatred and bloodlust by Frank.

"I was the one that invited him to pay me a visit." Angelina suddenly said.

Alex, who recognized that voice, suddenly looked at her and shook his head. After all, he was the one who volunteered to pay her a visit, and here they were. Angelina was defending him against her own father. Therefore, he was deeply troubled.

What!?

Hearing the unexpected declaration from her own daughter , Frank furrowed his brow and looked at her with a questioning gaze.

Veronica, on the other hand, who was witnessing everything decided to intercede before it got out of hand. "Honey!" "It's enough." "You don't need to be so furious over such a small thing." "After all, it was Angelina that invited him and besides their is nothing bad for him to pay her a visit." "Just forget about it and let give them some moment."

It was at that moment that Frank was able to calm his voice. He gestured to her wife and they both leave but before they were out of sight, he looked back at Alex with a deadly glare

"Don't do anything stupid."

It was only after they left that Alex was able to calm down. However, Angelina was deeply worried.

Immediately, Angelina gestures for him to enter. After entering, Angelina closed the door back. She turned back at Alex and said in an apologetic look.

"I'm truly sorry." "I ought to have told you that my parents are here."

Alex shook his head. "You did nothing wrong, Angelina. I should be thankful to you."

"What do you mean by that?" Angelina asked, feeling confused.

"You lied to your father even though you know I was the one who volunteered to pay you a visit. I'm really impressed with that."

Angelina was deeply moved, and before she knew what was happening, tears started dropping down her face. Alex, who saw this, moved closer to her and gave her a tight hug.

After some moment of embrace, Alex released Angelina and asked with a worried expression.

"How are you feeling now?"

"As you can see, I am feeling great." Angelina chuckled.

"Alex, pls, can you stay by my side?" "Ever since yesterday, I never had a good sleep." Angelina mumbled while looking at Alex with watering eyes.

Ouch! Alex felt goosebumps looking at those innocent eyes.

"Alright, your wishes are my command." Alex said immediately.

Angelina giggled and gave Alex a peck on his cheek. After that, she laid down on the bed, had a gist with Alex and soon slept off.

3:00 pm

Now, the time has come for the evolution of earth. The sky suddenly became darker, and deep clouds formed in the atmosphere.

Alex, who was beside her sleeping girlfriend, seems to have noticed this unusual occurrence earlier on his way here, and now he realized that something bad is going to happen.

In the countryside, people are also witnessing this phenomenon with panic in their mind.

However, in a matter of minutes, a sudden loud roar of lightning from the cloud makes a chill run down through the spine of the people, which is followed by a thundered lightning. Sound of crying and fear could be heard all around as people started running away like a scared antelope without a sense of direction.

All electricity shut down, no internet connection, sound of crying all over, planes falling from the sky, cars ramming into each other, buildings falling apart, large craters on the ground. The only words that come out of these anomalies are no other than APOCALYPSE.

Back in the hospital, the sound of lightning wokes everyone from their stupor, including Angelina, and until then, they realize that something is definitely wrong.

Every worker started gathering in one position wondering what is happening in the world and while doing that, a thunder hit the glass of the hospital which shattered immediately and shouting or screaming could be heard as people started running aways for their safety.

Two workers can be seen making a discussion on what is happening.

Hey Mark! "Any idea what is happening, huh?"

"I don't know, but in this situation, the only thing I could come up with is APOCALYPSE."

He smirked and slapped his head.

"Ouch!!!" "What was that for?" That's just my suggestion.

Mark retorted.

"How can you think of that when you're not a psycho, huh?"

"Let just get our ass off this fu*king hospital, Mark"

In the ward section, Angelina held Alex's arms tightly, getting terrified of the lightning while he tried to check what had happened outside the hospital.

However, Angelina's parents were also back with their daughter, but not only them, the doctor, who goes by the name Kelvin and Camia, and Mira, being the nurse, were also present. They only were present to do a checkup for Angelina before finally discharging her, but unfortunately, because of the phenomenon, they had to stay for their safety.

"You don't have to worry. Your parents are here with you. I just need to check the situation from the outside. So I'll be back after checking."

"You'll be fine, right?"

"Yeah! I promised."

He gave her a pat on the head and left the ward section. However, when he reached the first floor, he met some groups of people running erratically for their safety. Not minding all this, he heads straight outside to satisfy his curiosity.

Upon getting outside, Alex went stiff. He was totally shocked. The world was already in total chaos. It was like hell descended on Earth. Fallen Aeroplanes burning, collapsing buildings, huge crater on the ground. What pained him the most is seeing the crunched body part of people who couldn't escape it.

He was totally sad. He didn't even know when a stream of tears started dropping down his face. The scene was so disastrous.

"Just what the hell happened?"

Wiping off his face, he decided to go back.

Just as he was about to enter the hospital, the earth started trembling, and what seemed like black smoke started coming out from the ground.

The black smoke spread into the thin air.
