Shadows of Midnight is a narrative point-and-click adventure developed as an art school thesis project. I acted as a Technical Mentor and Consultant for a team of art students, guiding them through the process of translating their original 2D environments, animations, and puzzles into a fully playable Unity demo that they could confidently present and defend.
Implementation Highlights
Technical Stack Choice: Assessed available tools and chose Unity's point-and-click Adventure Creator engine as the most appropriate tool considering the team's talents and the project requirements.
Mentorship: Mentored the team on Unity and Adventure Creator features, empowering them to take ownership of the project's technical execution.
Pipeline Facilitation: Assisted the team in setting up a clean asset pipeline for 2D art, sound effects, and opening cinematic, ensuring seamless scene transitions across the 5-scene demo.
Creative Problem Solving: Advised the engineering of a custom solution for a puzzle mini-game using the point-and-click engine's built-in systems, overcoming technical constraints to make their design vision a reality without complex external code.
