Wandimo is an educational toy that combines a digital app with a real world wand. These two elements together, bring real world play and movement to screen time!
As Creative Director and lead artist, I worked on every visual element of this game and app- from concept to animation, logo to branding and more!
Below you can see some development art and final assets, for backgrounds and characters, animations and gameplay explorations.I had a lot of fun creating a vibrant and friendly world for players to learn and have fun with!
Wanda is a little helpful alien being, and the main character of the game, through whom the player interacts with the world! Here you can see their development from the top left, to final in-game assets and animations below.
Various concept drawings and style explorations for characters and the world.
Acorn birds concepts and final assets!
I wanted the style to be soft, friendly, lively and inviting- and a style that was easy to animate and would look good on a variety of screen sizes.
Concept art to final in-game art of the first world.
The Wandapops
As the game progresses, the player will get to grow and nurture cute space pets!
It was a lot of fun thinking about these and I did so many designs- I had to find a style that was transferable over many different animals, that would also share animations in-game!
Above is furniture for the Wandapops living quarters on the ship, and below are some of the Wandapops animated using Spine 2D and skin swapping.
Wandas' Spaceship
Wanda travels through the universe in their friendly spaceship, spreading good vibes and helping with math!
We wanted the ship to feel like a reliable and comforting presence that would feel nice to return to- a parent-ship almost!
The ship is like a giant living toy that can transform in many magical, impossible ways!
I love to create these worlds, I hope you enjoy to see them.
