I love how Golang has similarities to C and takes the good ideas from various other programming languages and discarding the unstable/unreliable features.

Web packages - I learned how to create a Simple API with GO and send a JSON to the client. As I deal with API's on a daily basis in my current job (Infor), I learned more of the configuration side of things that consulting would handle. Knowing how to actually create an API made is so much easier to troubleshoot existing 400 status codes.
