Staff assistant that answers from policies, with the page

Task. Staff ask the same policy questions again and again: hotel limits, mileage, what to do after an accident. The answers sit in eight PDF policies, and some rules have already been replaced by newer versions.

Solution. The assistant answers only from the company's own documents. It shows the paragraph it used, the document, version and section, and a link that opens the PDF on the right page. If a rule has changed, it says what the old version said and that it no longer applies. If the documents do not cover the question, it says so and lists the three nearest sections instead of guessing.

Tested. 40 new questions were written after tuning, in a separate session that saw the documents but not the code. With the model answering from the five best paragraphs, 29 of 31 answerable questions got the right paragraph and fact, all 9 unanswerable ones were refused, and no quote was wrong or taken from a replaced version.
