Transforming Information into Impact: Crafting a 200+ Slide Deck for a Cause

A Quick Tale of the Project

With over 200 individual slides across six module decks, this was no small feat - seriously, so many slides! Beyond the scale, this project meant something bigger than just design. It was created to educate, engage, and inspire families looking to open their hearts and homes to children in one of the largest foster care systems in the United States. And while some names and stats have been altered for privacy, the impact remains just as real.

The Mission: Make Learning Stick

The challenge was clear: revamp six training decks for a 6-week course designed to prepare future foster families-all within a tight three-month deadline. The goal? To make complex info digestible, engaging, and visually aligned with the organization's fresh new brand identity. The focus areas included:
Visual conformity across all slides
Clear infographics to simplify data, highlight workshop moments, and bring personal stories to life.
Dynamic content to keep all participants involved from start to finish.

The Process: Create, Critique, Revise & Repeat

With so many slides came with so much imagery! A lot of time was spent searching through photo libraries and fine-tuning custom graphics in tools like Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator to keep everything feeling polished and cohesive across all six module decks. Each deck started as an outline, then went through a cycle of review, feedback and revisions - because good design is all about the details. After client input, I refined layouts, adjusted visuals, and made sure every slide hit the mark while staying true to the project's scope. Rinse and repeat until perfection!

The Conclusion: Designing with Purpose

This project was a huge success - and even better, it was wrapped up in half the expected time! The client was thrilled with the final product, and their course has since launched to positive feedback from both participants and partner departments. Beyond refining my design skills, this project left me with something even more meaningful - a sense of accomplishment in creating something that truly makes a difference for families and children in the foster care system.
