From ‘Ugly’ to Unstoppable: How We Transformed Poker with Presence into a Winning Brand Website

Business: Poker coaching and lifestyle program by Jason Su
Type of Project: Website redesign and development
Tools Used: Framer (development), Figma (design collaboration)

Overview

Jason Su’s Poker with Presence focuses on helping top poker players improve their strategy and cultivate presence for both professional success and personal balance. However, his previous website—built in Squarespace—was detracting from his brand, described by Jason as “one of the ugliest websites.”
The goal was clear: create a beautiful, modern, and functional website to elevate his online presence and align it with his coaching philosophy. Collaborating with another designer who provided initial designs in Figma, I refined and developed the final website in Framer, ensuring both aesthetic and functional excellence.

The Goal

Transform Jason’s outdated Squarespace site into a visually appealing and user-friendly platform that:
• Reinforces his professional brand and credibility.
• Makes content and client testimonials easy to manage with Framer’s CMS.
• Creates an exceptional user experience for potential clients exploring his program.

Challenges

1. Brand Mismatch: Jason’s old website did not align with the professional, high-value image of his coaching program.
2. Complex CMS Transition: Importing the old blog into Framer was impractical due to cost and complexity. We shifted focus to using Framer CMS for managing client testimonials efficiently.
3. Collaborative Workflow: Balancing time zone differences with Jason and working closely with the designer required streamlined asynchronous communication.

The Process

1. Design Collaboration and Refinement
The designer delivered Figma files that served as the project’s foundation. I worked to refine the designs, optimizing for web performance and ensuring seamless development in Framer.

2. Development in Framer
Using Framer, I brought the refined designs to life, incorporating clean animations, responsive layouts, and an intuitive user experience.

3. CMS Optimization
Instead of migrating the outdated blog, we utilized Framer CMS to manage testimonials—a critical touchpoint for Jason’s audience. This solution provided flexibility and ease of management.
