A 30 second kinetic type film where every letter is drawn in code. Four custom alphabets, no font files, cut to a driving beat. Self-initiated concept work.
The brief
Kinetic type usually means one typeface moving across a screen. The brief I set: build a film where the letterforms themselves change character from scene to scene, so the type is the visual idea and not decoration on top of it.
The idea
Four alphabets, one per scene, each built from a different drawing system. They share one rule set for spacing and rhythm, so the film reads as one voice speaking in four accents.
ST: bars and rings. A stencil alphabet.
CR: pen and pressure. Strokes with weight that changes as they are drawn.
WR: Bezier points. Letters shown as the curves and handles that make them.
PX: cells and cubes. A pixel alphabet built from small solids.
Stencil alphabet: the word NOBODY in bars and rings
Scene by scene
The film opens on the stencil alphabet with a single word, then cuts on the beat to a yellow poster scene built from one letterform. The same letters then reappear as wireframes, with every Bezier point visible, so a viewer sees how the shapes are made before they are made into a message.

The closing frame shows all four alphabets as a set, with the line the film is built on: nobody shoots it, every frame is code.

How it is made
Every letter is geometry drawn by a script. The scenes are rendered frame by frame (900 frames at 30 fps) in a browser canvas with WebGL, then encoded with FFmpeg. Because the letters are code, changing a word, a colour or the timing is an edit, not a re-shoot.
What a film like this gives a brand
A type system that belongs only to you, with no licence to buy or renew
Titles, product names and campaign lines that can be re-cut quickly
Motion that can match a track beat for beat

This is concept work, made to show the standard. If you want a type-led film for a launch, a release or a brand, send the brief and the date it has to ship: admin@givemeprompts.com
