The Viewpoint Online

Christopher Hazell, Ph.D.

I led the vision and execution of creating an online platform and content hub for PLNU’s university publication the Viewpoint. I was the editor-in-chief of the site and responsible for the creative and editorial direction of the content (topical features, stories, videos, podcasts, etc.). The website offers a strategic way to reach and influence alumni, donors, prospective students, faculty, staff, parents, and other audience members related to the university to foster their connection with PLNU and help meet donor, enrollment, and engagement goals. I worked closely with a UX designer, marketing analyst, marketing specialist, writers, faculty and staff contributors, and other stakeholders to ensure the platform was branded, strategic, and relevant to various PLNU audiences. Additionally, I led the overall promotional strategy, which entailed reaching out regularly to over 50,000 contacts using email and various social media platforms.
I also managed, wrote, and hosted episodes for the Viewpoint Podcast with the help of an in-house video producer at PLNU. I developed the podcast as part of a larger strategy for the Viewpoint Online to provide educational and relevant content to our audience while helping to enhance the perception of the university as an institution committed to strong academics that features knowledgeable faculty. You can listen to two episodes below.
We received a CASE District VII Bronze award for the Viewpoint Online in the Digital Magazines category in 2019.
