I led the editorial and content strategy for and management of the redesign of PLNU’s university print magazine the Viewpoint. With the help of a local design agency, we crafted a new design and overall look to better match PLNU’s new brand and meet publishing best practices. I collaborated with an editor, in-house and freelance writers, photographer, graphic designer, strategists, and a third-party design partner. The project entailed obtaining and reviewing feedback from campus stakeholders and magazine readers as well as referencing editorial best practices within the industry to better meet university goals and reach a wider audience with the magazine. This resulted in the addition of 20 pages to provide more space for design and photography as well as to include more in-depth narratives and topical features for readers. The layout, design, and type of featured content was updated to provide a branded and compelling magazine for PLNU alumni, donors, parents, faculty, staff, and others connected to the university.
