Photography sites fail in one of two directions: design elements that compete with the pictures, or minimalism so total that nothing has any context. The brief for Photofolio was a portfolio where the interface disappears.

Galleries run full-bleed with smooth transitions between frames. Navigation stays present but quiet — you can always find your way without ever looking at the chrome.

A light/dark toggle lets each body of work sit on the ground that suits it — a dark room for low-key work, a gallery wall for high-key. Both themes were designed, not inverted.

Home, about, services, projects, case studies, blogs, posts and contact, plus a custom 404. The CMS means the photographer publishes new work and writing without touching the design.

The portfolio now behaves like a well-hung exhibition — and it holds up the same way on a phone.
