Opera House - Stara Zagora, Bulgaria

ReDesigning a better visual presence for the oldest cultural opera in the country
ProjectOverview Officially known as the Stara Zagora State Opera, it is the first opera house in Bulgaria outside the capital. Opera in Stara Zagora dates back to July 1, 1925, when the opera "Gergana" was staged in the city. In collaboration with a developer from Stara Zagora, we united in the idea to redesign the website of the Opera House in city.

The problem

The issue with the current website is that it feels outdated and needed a fresh new look, a better structure of the content and a clear CTAs with room to “breathe” prioritizing the main events and a pinch of modern look for cultural institution.
Clumping of elements in the hero-section.
redundantly long list of news for homepage.
Footer is not symmetrically structured, too much white space on the right side.
Too much empty space bellow the calendar. Lack a ‘calendar’ button in the header.

Visual Direction: Modern Clarity

I have developed a signature visual system built on the cultural heritage that this institution represents — minimal aesthetics royal golden color with a modern twist.
Overall feel:
Dark as in the performance is about to begin
Gold elements to pop the main components
The effect: The platform presents its self in a new light like a new performance is about to begin. Fresh and new look and feel for the audience.
Why it works: The aesthetic is ownable, scalable, and directly tied to the cultural heritage. It's not decoration — it's the strategy made visual.
