Piano Pilgrims: Piano Learning Game for Kids

Piano Pilgrims teaches children piano through structured courses, challenges, and progress tracking. The brief was specific: make music education feel like a game without making it feel unserious. Children need engagement. Parents need to see real progress. Those two requirements pull in different directions, and resolving them is the whole design problem.
Course structure. The experience is built on units that group lessons by skill level, with clear completion states and progress indicators that make advancement visible and satisfying. The Musicianship module tracks completed lessons, course milestones, and payment confirmations in one feed, so a student and their parent stay oriented at a glance.
The game layer sits on top of the learning structure rather than replacing it. Users track awards earned, courses finished, and skill metrics for attention and accuracy through a clean progress dashboard. Achievements sit next to progress: something for a child to collect, something concrete for a parent to point at.
Colour, deliberately calm for a children's product. Sage green, soft lavender, and warm off white in place of the saturated primaries most EdTech defaults to. Fresh without being overstimulating, the kind of interface a child can spend time in without a parent feeling uneasy about the screen time.
Navigation uses an icon-based bottom bar covering practice, lessons, challenges, rewards, and profile. Each section is visually distinct while staying part of one system.
Timeline: 3 weeks. Year: 2024. I led product design and the visual system.
