AUREN is a concept website for a fictional architecture studio and its first project, The Stone House. Instead of a grid of photos, the visitor arrives: the camera descends through low cloud, approaches the house, crosses its one opening and stands inside, then steps back to see the whole.
Concept study by Nova Digital Studio.
The journey
Six places on one continuous camera path, driven by scroll:
01 Approach: descend through low cloud; the headline holds until the house appears.
02 Mass: three concrete volumes stepping down the slope.
03 Threshold: the signature moment. The facade has one large opening; the camera centres on it and passes through with no cut.
04 Interior: a long gallery where the far window frames the valley.
05 Material: board-formed concrete, basalt and oak drifting in raking light.
06 The whole: a pull-back over the full building, with an honest data list.
Every scene change is carried by something in the world (cloud, the opening, a wall, rising fog), never a grey crossfade.
Design and build
A palette taken from the site itself: basalt, charcoal, limestone, warm light, mist, and lichen as the only accent. Archivo Expanded for headlines, Inter for text, with measured contrast for every text pair.
Under the hood, one scroll value drives the camera, the copy, and the chapter pill, so scrolling back up restores every scene exactly. Each place has a resting interval for reading and a travel interval for moving. The cameras are planned so we can replace the 3D stand-ins with photographic renders from the same views later.
Built with React, React Three Fiber, and GSAP ScrollTrigger, deployed on Vercel.
Process
References: three standout architecture and 3D sites recorded and broken down frame by frame.
Build brief: scene map, visual bible, seven named cameras and twelve design decisions.
Build: implemented from the brief with an AI coding agent.
Review: screen-recorded each build and reviewed it frame by frame. Two rounds, 12 issues logged and fixed, from walls that read as timber to a fog that cut instead of fading.
