The Brief:
Write a new blog article targeting high-ranking, high-intent keywords (KW: how to start a web design business)
Establish the product—Wix Studio—as robust for web design professionals, and as already driving success for professionals
Target Audience:
Web design professionals looking to start their own web design businesses, or looking for support and expertise on their already started venture
KPIs:
1) Google Search ranking
2) CTR (from Google to article)
3) Conversions / new sign ups
My original article for the Wix Studio blog, targeting the keyword "how to start a web design business"
How did we do?
#1 Google Search results position, always on the SERP first page
Article content and link were integrated into Google's AI Overview
Over 1,000 new user sign ups in the first six months of going live
SEO article is featured in Google's AI Overview, a key indicator of top performance.
How I approached this project
Keyword research to identify high volume secondary keywords
Content cluster strategy—which I'd created earlier for the brand—to identify inner links both up to pillar article(s) and down to supporting articles
Competitive research informed article's structure and must-have sections, in order to generate top search rankings
Bulleted, linked list with custom List Item schema to improve visibility of article in Google
Unique images with valuable content, mirroring the article's text
Alt text included primary or secondary keywords
Expert quotes from real Wix Studio user, in article as both text and embedded images
FAQ section, informed by research across competitor content, Google's People Also Ask, Google's AI Overview and Reddit posts
CTAs were naturally integrated into the article's text as well as product banners
The linked list with List Item schema helped boost the article's visibility in Google Search rankings
Original images with valuable article content include the primary keyword in the Alt Text and rank in Google Image results
Quotes from a Wix Studio professional designer add credibility to the article and boost the content quality for Google rankings
The FAQ section includes popular questions from Google Search and Reddit threads
