I embarked on a crazy journey eight months ago. It started off as a fun, creative project. My now client had just found out she was pregnant, and immediately we were jumping for joy - throwing out ideas and jokes that eventually snowballed into a whole production.
It’s kind of crazy to think that just a couple months ago we were simply talking about making something happen, and today it was brought to life: Baby in Bloom.
Having a Leo client meant that everything had to be big, bold, and beautiful. This couldn’t be a low-budget, at-home baby shower. It had to be an experience - a venue, a theme… a brand.
Luckily for me, I understood the assignment.
We started small, planning two gender reveals - sending custom bears and cakes to family, organizing a dinner for friends. At the time, it felt like I was just being a supportive friend. But once the baby shower came into focus, everything shifted. Now we were talking logistics, timing, decorations - every detail mattered.
This was the final event. The one that would bring everyone together to create meaningful and lasting memories.
Beyond the physical setup, I wanted the event to feel cohesive from start to finish.
I designed custom invitations, signage, and even a playlist cover that all followed the same Baby in Bloom theme. Soft florals, neutral tones, and elegant typography to create a consistent visual identity across every detail.
Even the music was intentional. The playlist wasn’t just background noise, it helped shape the energy of the room and added to the overall experience.
“Baby in Bloom” was her concept, but I helped bring it to life. I focused on the branding side things. Designing invitations, curating playlists, and helping define the overall aesthetic.
We leaned into a spring/Easter theme and chose Easter Day for the event. Honestly, having your baby shower on a holiday so you can steal the show? Very Leo behavior - and I was fully here to support the vision.
Of course, planning an event like this can get expensive quickly, so we had to get creative. After booking the venue and catering, we started thinking about party favors - something simple, but still custom and meaningful.
The original cost for custom lotion bottles was over $300… absolutely not.
So we had to pivot.
We bought empty canisters, designed and printed our own labels, and filled everything ourselves - cutting the cost down to about $150. We did outsource the baby arch, knowing we’d already have our hands full with setup and decor the day of.
As the event got closer, it’s safe to say I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off.
It’s funny how easy it is to forget small things, like a playlist - but those details completely shape the atmosphere. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve never been to a party that works in silence.
April 5th, Easter Sunday - finally came, and there was still so much to do.
I woke up early to get myself together, knowing I’d be heading straight into setup mode. I arrived at the venue around 12 and immediately got to work on the flower wall. The idea was for guests to build their own bouquets to take home alongside their favors.
From there, it was tables, decor, and making sure the space felt intentional. Every corner needed to be a photo opportunity.
Then, of course, I had to run home in the rain to get ready myself.
Very chaotic, but we got it done.
Everything came together beautifully.
The venue looked amazing, and all the hard work truly showed. The flower wall, the custom floral bassinet, the “Baby in Bloom” arch - it all felt cohesive and intentional.
Even more importantly, the energy was right.
Her friends and family showed up ready to celebrate, and you could feel it. We had a baby book where guests left messages and polaroids for the baby to look back on one day. A full food spread with traditional Puerto Rican dishes, a bar (of course), games, laughter - everything you’d want from a celebration like this.
I still haven’t come down from the high of it all.
From the moment she shared her news, to months later helping bring this entire experience to life - it really was a full production.
And I loved every part of it.
I’ve planned events before, even my brother’s baby shower, but this was different. Bigger. More detailed. More intentional.
This experience reminded me how much I enjoy creating spaces and moments for people. And more than anything, it made me excited to keep doing it. To learn more, build more, and see just how far I can take it.
