Designer Next To You

The Designer Next To You is an exhibition to showcase award winning design works from students of the university of applied sciences FH JOANNEUM—ranging from projects in the fields of communication, interaction, exhbition, media and sound design. [the] Designer next to you! exhibition took place at Designforum Styria in Graz, Austria from March 11 to April 10, 2021. The challenge was to create a visual identity that is remarkable but still puts the exhibited works into the foreground.

To communicate the variety of exhibited works, the visual identity makes use of a playful collage-like approach. The design system includes an array of elements—snippets from the exhibited design works—to communicate aspects of diversity and creativity. For a coherent appearance across all mediums, a tricolor scheme and playful use of typography were used. The use of color was limited to highlight essential information only—enabling the exhibited works to be in the viewer's focus.
