Project Overview
Anfaani is a culturally conscious mental health application designed specifically for Black women living in the UK. It creates a nurturing digital space where users can access mental health support, tools, and community, free from cultural bias or systemic neglect. A key differentiator is AI integration, which supports intelligent mood detection and preliminary emotional diagnostics to enhance personalized care. By leveraging artificial intelligence, Anfaani bridges the gap between clinical mental health insights and culturally resonant user experiences.
The Goal
To build an inclusive mental health platform that empowers Black women by combining empathetic design with AI-powered mental health insights, making care more accessible, personalized, and culturally aware.
The Problem
Black women in the UK often feel unseen or misunderstood in mainstream mental health services. Many existing platforms lack cultural awareness, leading to disengagement, mistrust, or app fatigue. There's also a gap in tools that support emotional tracking in a way that respects their lived experiences.
The Solution
Anfaani creates a culturally competent, AI-enhanced space where Black women can receive gentle support, track their mood, and feel emotionally safe. With consent-based emotional check-ins and a calm, affirming interface, Anfaani makes care feel personal, not clinical.
