2005 Subaru STI to 1995 GC8 Swap

Daniel Schroeder

This 1995 Subaru Impreza was purchased almost completely stripped. The previous owner used it for Autocross as it is one of the lightest chassis that Subaru has ever made. This advantage combined with the seamless transferring of newer drivetrain components makes it a very popular and overall easy swap candidate.
The starting chassis came with only: - Wiring harness - Gas tank - Dash - Brake booster - ABS Pump - Welded 5-point roll cage - A few other small things
Bare Chassis -> A wooden dolly was created to move the shell around easily

Over the two years it took to complete the car mechanically, from shell to running car, every part needed was sourced and installed. - Drivetrain installation - Interior swap - Cable harness / electrical testing
This project did not come without problems and headaches. The mechanical side was not very troublesome, however the electrical side definitely tested my patience. In the last couple months I was diagnosing a no-start condition, going through all the possibilities. In the end the security system was to blame and I was able to find a solution.

Unfortunately I didn't take nearly as many pictures as I had wanted and what I have shown does not come close to describe the amount of work this project required.
