Time Capsule Stories

Time Capsule Stories is an animated television series I created in my Children’s Television Workshop Class at New York University. It stemmed from my passion for animation and history. I have always loved storytelling. I knew how it can pave the way to inspiring the next generation of children. However, I didn’t had a show like this while growing up, so I decided to create my own in hopes of showcasing historical inspiring women to a new generation.
These series encompasses three episodes with stop-motion animation, which uses different photographs I collected from different sources.

THE PRODUCTION

As a film maker with a minor in history, I wanted to express my love for both areas through the Time Capsule Stories. Once I came up with the concept, I researched the information, and wrote the script for each episode inspired by an inspiring woman in a different field. This showed aimed to explore women in different areas that children might be interested in. Every child has an area they love, and that is a great opportunity to introduce them to key historical figures who were OR are working in that field.
The original footage was recorded on Zoom. Then I used Premiere Pro to edit the whole video. I wanted to create a fun classroom feel to it, which is why I added the paper texture and paper sound effect during transitions
Since I have always loved animation, I decided to incorporate animated graphics into the episodes to make it more engaging for children. The software I used were Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere Pro.
Due to the pandemic, this project was made while working remotely so I wore different hats. This included being the producer, video editor, and animator. In the past, I have worked on these roles before, which allowed me to have the skills needed for this project.
I also published on my LinkedIn these videos with burned captions, where I used my previous experience writing captions for NYU Forever Violet Team. Meanwhile on my Vimeo, you will also find the video with subtitles as well, which were uploaded as SRT file.
