Unlock the secrets of the unknown with the Cryptid Tarot: Discover your fate in the realm of the mysterious.

I had the privilege of collaborating with my peers in the Graphic Design I course to create a captivating sample of tarot cards. As a group, we were given the opportunity to select our final project for the semester, and I suggested a tarot card deck, which was ultimately chosen. I was thrilled to take on a guiding role in this project and guide my fellow designers in bringing our vision to life.
Together, we crafted a stunning collection of tarot cards that beautifully depicted the enigma of cryptids while incorporating cohesive graphic design elements. The card borders and typography were thoughtfully designed by Bridger James and Autumn Barton, and we all worked collaboratively to ensure that each card seamlessly blended with the others.
This project was a significant milestone in my education, as it allowed me to harness my illustration skills and apply them to the digital medium. The experience has since influenced my design style, which now embraces a harmonious blend of illustration and graphic design.
The following are the three cards I took ownership of and that incorporate my illustrations.

The Chariot:

The Chariot: The Alicorn
The Chariot: The Alicorn
The Chariot card in the Cryptid Tarot deck is a powerful representation of strength, determination, and willpower. Depicted on this card is an Alicorn, a mythical creature that combines the grace and beauty of a unicorn with the strength and power of a Pegasus.
When the Chariot card appears in a reading, it signifies a time of triumph and achievement. The Alicorn represents the power of the human spirit, reminding us to stay focused on our goals and to keep moving forward no matter what obstacles may arise. It also encourages us to embrace our unique strengths and talents, allowing us to soar to new heights of success and achievement.
Overall, the Chariot card in the Cryptid Tarot deck is a beautiful and inspiring representation of the power of the human spirit and the limitless potential within each of us. The Alicorn serves as a reminder to never give up on our dreams and to always have faith in our ability to achieve greatness.

The Star:

The Star: The Siren
The Star: The Siren
The Star card in the Cryptid Tarot deck is a mystical and enchanting representation of hope, inspiration, and renewal. Depicted on this card is a Siren, a beautiful yet dangerous creature that has long been associated with the power of the sea.
When the Star card appears in a reading, it signifies a time of renewal and spiritual awakening. The Siren represents the power of the human spirit to overcome challenges and rise above adversity, reminding us to stay true to our deepest dreams and desires. It also encourages us to embrace our inner creativity and imagination, allowing us to find inspiration and hope even in the darkest of times.
Overall, the Star card in the Cryptid Tarot deck is a beautiful and inspiring representation of the power of the human spirit and the limitless potential within each of us. The Siren serves as a reminder to always stay true to our innermost passions and desires, and to trust in the universe to guide us toward our greatest hopes and dreams.

The Seven of Swords:

The Seven of Swords: Arachne
The Seven of Swords: Arachne
The Seven of Swords in the Cryptid Tarot deck is a card that represents cunning, deception, and betrayal. Depicted on this card is Arachne, a mythical creature that is half-human, half-spider. Arachne is offering a sword to the viewer, symbolizing the temptation to use deception to achieve one's goals.
Arachne's spider-like qualities represent the desire to weave a web of lies and deceit, while the sword symbolizes the potential for harm that can come from using such tactics. The Seven of Swords serves as a warning that while deception may seem like a quick and easy way to achieve success, it ultimately leads to dishonor and betrayal.
When the Seven of Swords appears in a reading, it suggests that the querent may be tempted to use underhanded tactics to achieve their goals. However, the card serves as a reminder that such actions will ultimately lead to negative consequences and damage to one's reputation.
Overall, the Seven of Swords in the Cryptid Tarot deck is a cautionary reminder of the dangers of deceit and betrayal. The image of Arachne offering a sword serves as a powerful symbol of the temptation to use underhanded tactics to achieve one's goals, and the potential harm that can come from such actions.
