Over the past four years at Big Immersive, I’ve contributed to the development of Virtua Metaverse, a digital world blending interactive environments, NFT marketplaces, and rich lore. Initially a simple lobby in 2018, it evolved into an expansive metaverse featuring partnerships with major IPs like The Godfather, Lost in Space, Top Gun, Pacific Rim, and Godzilla vs. Kong.
NFT Marketplace & Design
I played a key role in designing the NFT marketplace, starting with VFLECTs and expanding to include exclusive assets from various IPs. A key challenge was creating customizable virtual spaces called FANCAVES, where players could showcase NFTs. The modular design allowed for versatile spaces that could support different IPs, streamlining the design process.
Lore & World-Building
I led the creation of Virtua’s lore, including a new solar system centered around Virtua Prime, where players interact with the metaverse. I designed the VFLECT species, a highly advanced civilization capable of cosmic feats. The geography of Virtua Prime featured areas of perpetual daylight and endless darkness, each fostering unique ecosystems and creatures, enhancing the world’s depth.
Zone Development & IP Integration
I contributed to the development of specialized Virtua Islands and zones like Monster and Pioneer, each with unique backstories and gameplay. In collaboration with Cardano, I helped design Cardano Island, a plot-based area that gained traction post-launch. Working with high-profile IPs, I learned how to integrate existing narratives into new spaces while maintaining consistency and player engagement.
This project taught me how to merge storytelling with design, create immersive worlds, and tackle complex challenges in the evolving metaverse space.
