With over twenty years of experience of brand and identity design, I have led design work for large multinational organizations, B-2-C startups and not-for-profit organizations. With each project I work with your team's leadership to identify goals, lead exercises to understand who you are, and work together to create a set of deliverables for your team to use.
HOW WE WORK:
Identify the goals of the project
Working with your team, we will identify the goals of the project and define a scope of work that aligns with the initial outcomes identified in that discussion.
Which one are you?
Not all teams want a deep process, and not all projects require it. We help you identify the right stream of work given your needs.
Understand who you are as a company
Regardless of the scope of work identified at kickoff, and before we begin the design, process we like to conduct a set of short exercises, or conversations, to better understand who you are and how you want to be perceived. These can be done virtually or in person, and can include as many as 5 internal team members.
Consensus is hard.
At its core this phase is meant to coalesce what your companies key attributes are. These attributes will create a guide for us as we move into the design phase of the project.
Gather inspiration
Before putting pencil to paper we will create a visual mood board that captures the essence of what we see as being an appropriate solution for your project.
We don't just look for inspiration within your companies vertical, or only search just for brand's as inspiration. We may find guidance in photography, paintings, or nature. As long as it aligns with the brands attributes, we can use it to guide us as we create the visual brand elements.
Develop the core brand elements
Now that we understand your company and have a shared sense of visual style, we are able to move forward to create the core brand elements: Logo, color palette, typography system.
Create a set of deliverables
At the end of the project we will deliver a set of logo files and any other assets created during the project, from brand guidelines to document templates for internal teams to build with.
BRAND IDENTITY SAMPLES:
Custom House Inn
The Custom House Inn, a boutique hotel in the heart of Key West, formerly known as the Key West Custom House was built in 1833 and housed trade operations for the developing island.
Our logo leaned into the heritage aspect of the Keys with a stylized interpretation of the primary building. Individual room identities further carried this brand design to create an scalable set of graphic elements to use in different applications.
