Overview
This project involved taking ownership of a UK-based job marketplace platform serving blue-collar job seekers and short-term freelance workers. While the platform was live, it suffered from critical usability, performance, and infrastructure issues that impacted reliability, user trust, and business growth.
I was brought in to stabilize the platform, resolve system-wide failures, improve UI/UX, and prepare it for scalable growth across web, mobile, backend services, and infrastructure.
Initial Challenges
The platform faced multiple high-impact issues across different systems:
Website existed but lacked proper UI/UX (mostly text-based, low engagement)
Mobile application was non-functional
Job scraper was broken and producing inconsistent data
Infrastructure hosted on AWS EC2 frequently went down
No monitoring or alerts to detect server overloads
No payment system in place
No analytics for tracking user behavior or growth
The complexity increased because the platform was split across four independent systems.

My Approach & Execution
1. Website Redesign & UI/UX Improvement
I started by redesigning the main landing page to improve user engagement and trust.
Rebuilt the homepage with a modern UI/UX
Improved layout hierarchy and visual flow
Added multiple strategic CTAs to guide users
Enhanced responsiveness and accessibility
Made the platform more appealing for job seekers and employers
Result: A visually engaging, conversion-focused homepage aligned with modern design standards.

2. Job Scraper Stabilization & Optimization
The Node.js-based job scraper was producing inconsistent and unreliable data.
Fixed core logic and error handling issues
Normalized scraped data from multiple platforms
Improved data consistency and reliability
Optimized architecture for flexibility and future scalability
Result: A stable, cleaner, and more reliable scraping system feeding accurate job data.
3. Mobile App Recovery (React Native)
The mobile app was non-functional due to dependency and version issues.
Diagnosed compatibility problems
Upgraded dependencies and libraries
Restored app functionality without a full rewrite
Result: Mobile app fully operational and stable again.
4. Infrastructure Monitoring & Server Stability
Frequent downtime was caused by unmonitored server load spikes.
Implemented AWS EC2 server alarms
Monitored CPU, memory, and traffic thresholds
Identified load patterns causing crashes
Reduced unexpected downtime
Result: Improved uptime, better visibility into server health, and faster incident response.
5. Payment & Analytics Integration
Once the core platform was stable, I implemented additional business-critical features.
Integrated GoCardless payments on both web and mobile platforms
Ensured secure and consistent payment flows
Added Google Analytics for traffic and behavior tracking
Result: Enabled monetization and gave the client data insights to improve marketing and growth strategy.
