Designing & Building a Portfolio Site in Framer

A self-initiated Framer design and build project — from concept to deployed site. View live site

Overview

Most designer portfolios are an afterthought. This one wasn't. The goal was to design and develop a portfolio site that communicates a clear positioning, guides visitors toward the work fast, and demonstrates design craft through the site itself all built end-to-end in Framer.

The challenge

The site needed to do three things well: communicate a focused value proposition instantly, make case studies easy to find and engaging to read, and feel polished without being over-designed. Clean, fast, and intentional.

Design & Build

Layout decisions were driven by one filter — get the visitor to the work as quickly as possible. Strong hero, minimal friction, project work front and center. Typography, spacing, and a restrained color palette were kept deliberate, so the project thumbnails carry the visual weight.
In Framer, the site was built with reusable components for nav, footer, and project cards, a fully responsive layout across all breakpoints, and performance-conscious image handling throughout.

Outcomes

A live, fully responsive portfolio housing four case studies, built and shipped entirely in Framer. Deliverables included a fully designed and developed Framer site, reusable component library, CMS-powered case study pages for easy content updates, and a responsive layout optimized across all breakpoints.
