Overview: Development of a rugged, weather-sealed enclosure for professional wildlife acoustic recording.
Challenge: Housing a high-capacity power source (8x AA batteries) and sensitive electronics in extreme outdoor environments without a predefined PCB layout.
Design Approach: I utilized a component-first workflow. I defined the internal volume based on battery constraints first, then built a cylindrical chassis to minimize wind resistance and improve water drainage.
Key Decisions: I implemented a heavy-duty threaded rear cap to ensure long-term weather sealing, and integrated strap/clamp mounting interfaces directly into the external form for rapid field deployment.

One of the main challenges was organizing internal components (PCB, battery pack, and interface elements) within a compact cylindrical enclosure while maintaining accessibility and clean assembly logic.
This was solved by separating functional zones and introducing a threaded rear cap system for easy maintenance and battery replacement.
