Client: Personal Cooking Creator
Content: Cooking Journey · Beginner Series
Role: Video Editing · Caption & Subtitle
A short-form series documenting a beginner's journey into cooking, turning real learning moments into simple and engaging social content.
The Challenge
How do you make a beginner's cooking journey entertaining without losing the authenticity?
The original cooking process could take 15–20 minutes, but the content needed to communicate the creator's genuine beginner experience in just 1–3 minutes.
The challenge was to keep the mistakes, reactions, and learning moments that made the story interesting — without letting the video feel slow.
The Approach
Keep It Real. Keep It Moving.
I built the edit around the creator's beginner personality and learning process.
Cut long cooking footage down to the essential moments
Kept genuine mistakes and reactions
Used captions to highlight funny or unexpected moments
Maintained the “I'm still learning” narrative
Built a fast enough pace without making the process feel overly edited
The goal was to make viewers feel like they're watching someone learn alongside them, rather than watching a polished cooking tutorial.
The Result
The content generated thousands of views and active audience interaction, with viewers commenting, asking questions, and sharing their own cooking tips.
The creator's beginner status became part of the content's appeal, encouraging the audience to react, give advice, and follow the learning journey.
