Kicia Kocia – Backgrounds for Animated Series

The animation embraces a hand-drawn, childlike style to reflect the charm and simplicity of the original illustrations. Staying true to that aesthetic, I designed each background to feel as if it were drawn by a child — playful, warm, and expressive.

Each illustration was created based on animatic and layout references, and adjusted to the required scene dimensions. As shown in the example, this background was designed for a side-scrolling shot — the green frame represents the Full HD frame size used during animation.

All backgrounds were carefully prepared for animation: key elements intended for movement were separated into individual layers to ensure a smooth animation process.
