Abstract

Today’s world is a modern world and everything is being digitalized with the integration of internet. It has resulted in different cybercrime attacks which are growing fast in numbers.  They steal important data. Enterprises and industries have critical and important data that needs proper protection, if their data is lost then industries faces big loss.   In this paper we have discussed the data loss prevention in server operating system which is Window and Linux. In this paper we have discussed different methods used for data loss prevention in windows and Linux. Our research methodology will be qualitative.

Introduction

In order to protect the network and data stored in it the countermeasure that is put in place is called network security. It keeps the network safe from any kind of hacking interventions, cyber-attacks. Hardware, software and cloud services are the main components of network security. In this paper we will be discussing about data prevention loss in windows and Linux operating system.  (Marin, 2005)

Data loss prevention for windows

Data prevention loss refers to a technology that prevents sharing of critical data and sensitive data of the organization with the outside networks. Data loss prevention can also provide action that avoids uploading of files, downloading of files, printing and forwarding of messages as well. data prevention loss system and its software focuses on the policies that are defined by the organization so that no one can misuse, and share the data which can result in putting the organization at risk. (Liu & Kuhn, 2010).





There are three main objectives solved by data loss prevention and they include personal information protection, data visibility and intellectual property protection. Organizations have personal information of its users in the form of payment car information, health information and other kind of information. Using data loss prevention organization can protect the personal data of their users. Intellectual property is a personal stuff of the organization and data loss prevention can classify intellectual property in both structured and unstructured form. Data loss prevention assists in tracking the data on cloud networks and end point. (Ailianos, 2010). There is another version of data loss prevention and it is cloud computing data loss prevention and it protects the critical data of the organization as well in an effective manner. Cloud computing was only simple information technology activities and simple computing style that gives protection to data. It is said that cloud computing is not the revolutionary idea but it is the evolution idea and concept that is capable of integrating different sort of technologies together to develop a new information technology tool. With the passage of time cloud computing and its application got the accessibility of internet as well to perform operation better and effectively as well. Now if anyone has a suitable internet connection can access the cloud computing and its applications. Cloud computing basically refers to provision of different computer services such as storage of data, networking services, protection of data analytics and other relevant services as well.  Internet is the basic source of operation of cloud and computing. In cloud computing device can access the cloud and same kinds of applications by using internet. Cloud computing is very important as it gives different advantages and advantages include efficiency, cost effectiveness, security of data, scalability, recovery of data from disaster, control and much more It provides more visibility in SaaS and IaaS applications.





Software as a service

In this type of cloud computing the software is owned and managed by one or more provider. Software as a service SaaS is a better way of assessing different software that protects the data. Usually software is expensive. There is different SaaS organization and computing system that led you rent different software with ease and you can host software as well. SaaS is adapted by intelligence of businesses and its technology. SaaS has an achievement that Adobe creative suit has also adapted this model. SaaS provides encryption which an organization can use and enhances its data security

Infra-structure as a service

Infra-structure as a service essentially refers to the computation of resources, networking capabilities storage capability and much more. This can be available on the demand of the customers.

Platform as a service

They are middleware services and are the infra-structure of application and relevant services. Different modules are involved in this such as integration, management of business processes, services of data base, and application platform. (Hayes, 2008)

Data prevention loss for Linux

Data prevention loss by using Linux helps the organization to effectively manage the devices which are connected to the computers. It monitors every activity regarding the transferring of data to unauthorized devices. In this a users cannot take unauthorized data of the organization outside the company. Using Linux operating system data loss prevention provide better retention and control over data through proper inspection. Data loss prevention safeguards the sensitive data and intellectual property as well. it encompasses different end points which bloc the file transmission depending on the type of filter, and type filter which depends on the predefined content.
