Introduction:

If we envisage the concept, challenges, and abilities of managers in any firm, the result will be inevitable. There are many factors that contribute to the prosperity of the company or project, so the project manager should be chosen wisely in order to eradicate the prevailing dilemmas of the company or to maintain the company’s prosperity. The managers should have an aptitude to undermine contemporary challenges and skills to choose the appropriate business techniques and tools. Apart from the technical skills, other pertaining skills like communication, engagement, and dedication to work are also incumbent for a good manager. 

The Australian Airports Association (AAA) estimated that, in March 2020, Australia’s major airports would lose more than $500 million in aeronautical revenue alone, compared to 2019. (international airport review).

In this report, we will unveil contemporary and impending challenges that being faced by the manager, in times of Covid-19, in aviation industry and the ways to undermine them. The relevant skills and abilities along with challenges during the execution of the project or company’s routine will also be elaborated in the prevailing report. If the company is losing grounds, what should be or should have been the role of the manager to tackle that issue? What does the contribution of the manager in the company’s prosperity and failure during Covid-19? These questions with other relevant aspects will unground through this report. The elaboration of the above-articulated entities will be worth incorporating in the company’s policies to win the laurels. 

 

The management department of the aviation industry has the responsibility to allocate, organize, scrutinize the company’s resources to attain pertaining company’s objectives and goals. And, the manager is responsible for the efficiency, competency, and relevant challenges in the management department. (BC Campus, 2018). The job of mangers has become more challenging in the present era of covid-19 due to substantial risks related to health in the aviation industry, and the lost incurred by the company due to corona virus. The overall aviation had been closed during the advent along with huge job loss, increasing responsibilities and challenges of mangers, etc. 

The manager is the head of the management department may or may not with other responsibilities. And consequently, responsible for the management department. While the management department is considered to be the backbone of a company and responsible for both enticing and regretful results. Researches and experiences have brought light to the role of manager and uttered as formidable for the mounting of the company. But, the job of the manager is not so easy because he/she has to get into hot water for remarkable results, otherwise, all of the indefatigable struggles of the company can be an end in smoke while undermining the role of the manager. The incumbent responsibility of the manager has been to abjure the company’s prejudices and constraints to build up the trust of people and counterparts. 

The financial loss along with health constraints have to be kept in mind during corona virus advent and should not be minimized. The strategical thinking is inevitable for aviation managers during this time by becoming more vigilant about present and impending scenarios. The challenges faced by the aviation industry is not new, their roots have been in existing for a long time like 9/11 crisis or Indonesian volcano crises. So long term planning is a dire need of present times.

According to research, 66 percent of CFO’s uttered that responsibility and challenges have become more substantial and more difficult than five years ago. (Growth engineering, 2017). Some related challenges are given below: 

 

In the ever-changing dynamics of the present world, classical techniques and creativity in aviation field and during the corona advent, have become null and void. The incumbent and unprecedented talents and creativity level along with remarkable critical skills and to search for them has become a major challenge for the new world’s organization and the managers of aviation industry. The unprecedented shocks are experienced by aviation industry during covid-19 era.  The new ideas and techniques to unground them by integrating the appropriate strategy are very challenging for the managers in the contemporary world of globalization. The making of the desired strategy to tackle prevailing environmental issue is challenging for the aviation managers along with the selection of strategy. The prevailing environmental strategies are theories like neo-institutional theory, structural contingency theory and the theory of strategic foresight. These challenging theories are aim to find to alternative or solution to tackle this high level of environmental uncertainties. The creativity skill itself numerous challenges that cannot be tackled by the manager like unclear objectives and aims, fear of failure, and to unable to adapt to the situation (Brian Tracy, 2016). The challenges pertaining to these aspects have become worse due to the increase in research and competition. It is the most inevitable challenge that managers face and they have to contemplate the ways of curtailing them. The managers have to look for these aspects along with the company’s daily routine and challenges. It has been adding to vows to managers in the area of challenges. The manger should incorporate innovation for the eradication of uncertainties pertaining corona virus. Innovation is fast becoming one of the most importunate aspect for an organization’s prosperity and growth. (Brendon Playford, 2018).

The innovation does not have to big or revolutionary, even the smallest change in the product through creativity to render aesthetics, interest is also not an easy task. The search for these skills and creativity is an indefatigable strive which the company managers have to endure.   

Research utters that the greater the engagement level between the team itself and the manager rendered substantial creativity in the management department (Growth engineering, 2017). The prevailing condition has also affected the present communication technique and standards. The communication between the team and manager to tackle this unprecedented issue of the most affected company like aviation is more than challenging.  Our team is selected by the manager and team members may have diverse inherent qualities, nature, and perspective. To render them streamlines to achieve the company’s objective is a technical and challenging task which has to be done by the manager. A study shows that 88% of the companies are allocating substantial company resources to improve team engagement and teamwork. (Growth engineering, 2017). Even when the senior members are willing and committed to constituting culture part of their strategy for driving the bottom-line, getting assistance from other stakeholders can be a hard sell. (Fraser Marlow, 2019)

 

 

The era of corona virus has rendered many types of new and unprecedented regulation which should be paid heed. The forecasting of new regulations along with the implementation of new ones has become challenging during corona outbreak. The integration of these regulations in the aviation industry is not so easy because it is the most affected domain. To forecast the behavioral changes of customers is also inevitable and challenging.

In order to tackle the above-mentioned challenges along with others, there should be some key and incumbent abilities to get respite from the contemporary and impending challenges in the aviation industry during Corona outbreak. These skills decided the competency of the manager and that competency will decide the future of the company’s prosperity and failure. Some inevitable techniques are pronounced here which will be worth mentioning. 

 

Many problems were encountered by the project during the implementation phase. The implementation of new regulation regarding corona outbreak in aviation industry prompts many unprecedented problems which cannot be ignored. The diligent and maneuver approach should be inherently present in the manager so that, he can be able to change himself according to pertaining need.  These problems if not timely dealt with can incur a huge loss on the company and its name. There are many problem-solving techniques present in the contemporary era but how to use them and which to use them are important. Problem-solving skills help you to evaluate the source or cause of a problem and find an alternate. Although problem solving is often classified as its own separate skill, there are other pertaining skills that contribute to this ability. (Indeed, 2020).

The relevant technique of relevant problem should be incorporated to get respite from the prevailing problem or impending risks and uncertainties. The selection pertaining to these has to be done by critically examine the whole scenarios and by incorporating relevant experiences and previous examples. This is not an easy task, if not done properly, it can render the company to fall from the highest position and incurred loss in terms of financial, customer’s trust, etc. The project manager should have a firm knowledge of these aspects and enough experience of dealing with them. The project manager’s main role is the problems solving which may evolve at any time with any degree. 

 

Me must know how to deal with new emerging challenges at any time like corona outbreak. Apart from daily routine business and implementation of existing regulations, he should be vigilant to forecast the tomorrow’s trends and the ways to adapt according the situation. They should be competent in making strategies of new most liable to experience challenges.

 

Time matters a lot during the unprecedented conditions like corona outbreak. Many important aspects of the project are depending upon efficient time management. Managing your time can help you to improve your career substantially (Indeed, 2020). If not done properly, time can incur a lot of loss in terms of monetary and other factors. So, time management skills should not be undermined. The manager should know how we can curtail time interdepending activities, pertaining to some project? because the curtailing of time will save us from the impending risks and uncertainties. A good manager should know about time management skills, techniques, and how to use them. The selection of relevant time management techniques is also formidable for the company’s objective. The perfect assumption of time regarding the implementations of new regulations during corona outbreak is incumbent for the prosperity and sustainability of aviation industry.

 

The time of corona outbreak, is the time of uncertainties and many competent people in your team might be liable to lose ground of motivation. So, the mangers should have a skill to motivate them in order to get respite from the challenges faced and also prepare them to tackle impending same or worse type of issues in aviation industry during lockdown prompted by Corona outbreak. With time, your time might lose interest in the prevailing project or the company’s objectives. So, you should know how to render motivation in them so that, they can work with dedication. Motivation act like a catalyst that revives their interest and feeling of ownership. After motivation from the manager, they work with new energy. So, a manager should know how to influence his/her team through motivation. Despite of the presence of competent people, without motivation they are null and void. (Mind tools, 2017). To this, one is the way to achieve good podium skills. Last but not least, from time to time motivation from the manager should be appreciated so that, people contemplate the success of the company and the ways to overcome hurdles pertaining to projects and objectives. 

 

The role of management and manager has incredible importance towards the company’s success. Many challenges are being faced by the manager in the contemporary era of corona, in the aviation industry, dealing with environmental constraints, implantation of new prompted regulation during corona outbreak, and communication challenge have become worsen during the advent of corona outbreak A manager should be filled with relevant skills and abilities to achieve the company’s objectives especially in present time of corona outbreak. The above-articulated aspects regarding skills and challenges should be worth integrated for the efficient achievement of the aviation organization’s objective and should be appreciated. 

 

Executive summary:

The effects rendered by corona outbreak in the aviation industry are more intense as compared to other industry in terms of health and critical scrutiny of affected people. It prompted out a series of new and unprecedented challenges to the aviation industry and consequently, the aviation mangers. So, more vigilance and diligent in term of dealing the present situation and forecasting the impending relevant situation has become more formidable. The new challenges require net set of skills and techniques to tackle these. The challenges are in term of environmental maintains, implanting the new regulation with proper time management and decline of the morale of the aviation team, which prompt the need of some thing new and effective in the prevailing skills in term of motivation, time management, and implementation of regulations.
