I built a missed-call lead recovery workflow inside GoHighLevel using conditional branching logic, so the system responds differently depending on whether the lead engages or not.
THE PROBLEM
Not every missed-call lead behaves the same way. Some reply to a follow-up text and some don't, and treating every lead identically wastes opportunities and looks impersonal.
WHAT I BUILT
A trigger that captures every missed inbound call automatically
Automatic contact creation or update, so no lead is ever duplicated
Lead source tagging ("Missed Call"), so reporting stays accurate
A "missed-call" tag added instantly for easy filtering and tracking
An automated SMS sent right after the missed call, opening the conversation
A wait step that pauses the workflow to give the contact time to reply
A conditional "if/else" branch that checks whether the contact replied:
If they replied, the workflow moves them down an engaged-lead path
If they didn't reply, the workflow moves them into a separate follow-up path
Clean, labeled steps (01 through 06) so the logic stays easy to read and maintain
WHAT THIS WORKFLOW DELIVERS
Personalized handling based on real lead behavior, not a one-size-fits-all sequence
Higher response rates, since engaged leads get fast, relevant follow-up
No manual sorting: the workflow decides the next step automatically
A scalable structure that's easy to extend with more branches later
RESULT
A smarter missed-call system that adapts to each lead's behavior, increasing engagement and making sure no responsive lead falls through the cracks.
