50 States 50 Grants 5000 Voices is an annual competition hosted by LGBTQ+ non-profit It Gets Better in which students compete to create the best "advertisement" to win $10,000 in grant money to fund "projects that uplift, empower, and connect LGBTQ+ youth in schools". SAGA (Sexuality and Gender Alliance Club) recognized the lack of diverse reading material in the school library and decided to apply for the grant.
As a SAGA member, I stepped up to the plate and scripted, shot, and edited the video application in just 2 days, which went on to win the competition in the State of RI, allowing us to use the grant money to help our school library and give back to our community. The video was shot on only a phone camera, as my studio equipment was not available at the time.
50 States 50 Grants 5000 Voices is a charity competition run by It Gets Better. I created the video application for SAGA, which went on to win the competition.
