Redesigning the core trading module of Argentina's largest investment broker — turning complexity into confidence. Role: Lead Product Designer · Team: 1 PM, 4 devs, 1 QA · Tools: Figma, Maze, Amplitude.
The problem
Daily Investments — PPI's core trading module — had grown organically, layering features without revisiting information architecture. New users felt overwhelmed; experienced traders wanted speed. The numbers made the friction visible: 62% of new users abandoned onboarding before their first trade, placing a trade took 3.2x more clicks than direct competitors, and NPS sat at 41.
The solution: an interface that adapts to expertise
Progressive disclosure: key metrics first, advanced analytics and order types unfold as users need them. Contextual guidance: inline tooltips explain financial jargon at point of need. One-tap trading: the trade flow went from 6 steps to 2, with smart defaults and undo instead of scary confirmations. Unified watchlist: three separate views collapsed into one configurable surface for both beginners and experts.
Outcome
Within 3 months of launch: NPS jumped from 41 to 79, trade volume grew 40%, and support tickets dropped 35%. Onboarding completion rose to 62%. The progressive disclosure model became a design pattern adopted across other PPI products, and the work was recognized at a company-wide all-hands for its impact on investment metrics and new accounts.
