Heroes & Villians — Album Poster Series

Metro Boomin released Heroes & Villians in December 2022 with fifteen tracks and a premise borrowed from comic book mythology. The cover that shipped with it looked the part. This is a different question: what would it look like if it had been designed in 1968, in Basel, by someone who had never heard of trap music but understood exactly how to make type feel dangerous.

The concept is built into the color. Heroes in white, Villians in red — two forces sharing a diagonal axis, two thin red line extending out from "Villians" like a laser (referencing super vilians). At the same time it serves as a grid that holds everything in place.

Everything else follows the Swiss system: the date as three numbers, the tracklist as fine-print columns, red held back until it needs to land. The result is a poster that doesn't need artist's face to communicate artist's scale.
